So what happens to the donations that BBR receives? The site costs about $25.00 per month to host. Out of every $5.00 donation I receive, PayPal takes about $.50 (fifty cents). So it takes about five donations per month to host. Every quarter (that's a three-month period) I will donate 10% of the proceeds (that's money made AFTER subtracting costs) to a worthy, non-extremist charity. The rest of the money goes into a fund to help support my unemployed butt and to pay for things like future hosting and potential merchandise like Bad Buddhist T-shirts or coffee mugs ('cuz you have to pay to have them made before you can sell them).
Due to the sporadic podcasting since last June, donations dropped and the fund has pretty much been depleted to pay for hosting. BBR donations to non-profits will continue once things get moving again!
What do the colors mean?
- Plain names - Have donated once.
- Bold names - Are those who have donated from $10 to $45.
- Red names - Are those who have donated from $50 to $95.
- Purple names - Uh, that's my wife, who works to support me and, by association, this podcast.
That's as far as I've gotten so far. New colors will denote different donation amounts if and when they get higher than $95.
